Norwich City came from 2-0 down at half-time to draw 2-2 with German side TSG Hoffenheim in a pre-season friendly played in Austria.
New signing Ben Chrisene played on the same day he signed for the club while there was also a first outing for City's new away kit.
Hoffenheim finished seventh in the Bundesliga last season and their quality was evident from the start, moving the ball quickly and depriving City of possession.
The German side experienced a setback in the first 10 minutes as David Jurasek landed awkwardly after contesting the ball with Jonathan Rowe. The defender left the field on a stretcher and was replaced by Marius Bülter.
The Canaries found themselves behind on 19 minutes as Ihlas Bebou slotted home from a Tom Bischof pull-back.
Josh Sargent had a half-chance after 20 minutes but Luca Philipp blocked well at his feet.
Hoffenheim's lead was doubled shortly afterwards when Bebou knocked the ball down for substitute Bülter who buried it past Angus Gunn from close range on 25 minutes.
City began to get into the game towards the end of the half, Borja Sainz providing a pair of chances.
Johannes Hoff Thorup made three changes at the break as Shane Duffy, Jaden Warner and Liam Gibbs replaced Grant Hanley, Sargent and Guilherme Montóia.
Rowe brought the Canaries back into the game early in the second half as he raced through the middle from a ball over the top and buried his finish emphatically with his left foot.
Rowe was direct once again on 63 minutes, dancing his way past several defenders and unselfishly looking for a pass when perhaps a shot was on. The chance was subsequently cleared.
The Canaries were level on 66 minutes when Brad Hills converted from a corner, coolly slotting home on the volley.
Abu Kamara was introduced on 74 minutes and immediately found himself with a chance when Rowe found him in the box. The ball was slightly behind the forward, who couldn't keep his shot down.
Chrisene was introduced for the final 15, replacing Jack Stacey at left back.
City could have won the game late on with a triple chance as Onel Hernández tried his luck from outside the area, before Marcelino Núñez cannoned a shot from the post and Chrisene's shot was saved from the rebound on 90 minutes.
The Canaries host 2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli at Carrow Road in their final pre-season fixture on Saturday, August 3 (KO 3pm).
