Norwich City's Josh Sargent was in the right place at the right time to help the Canaries to a 1-0 win on the road against a 10-man Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The US international scored the only goal of the game, pouncing on the ball at the end of the first half to earn City's first away win since the first day of the calendar year.
Johannes Hoff Thorup made one alteration to the side that beat Swansea City 5-1 last weekend; Jacob Sørensen stepping in for an injured Onel Hernández.
The Canaries opened the game full of energy, Sargent finding the target within the first two minutes, but his close-range effort was stopped by Jonathan Bond in goal for the hosts.
Lewis Dobbin was next to take a shot at goal, as sloppy defending allowed Sargent to recover the ball deep into the Hornets' half, but again it was nothing to trouble Bond.
The first promising chance for Watford came from a Giorgi Chakvetadze breakaway, but the Georgia international took a touch too many and fired high over the bar from a tight angle.
Watford then grazed the top of the crossbar with a header from Vakoun Bayo after 20 minutes.
Things then took a turn for both the hosts and Bayo, who was shown a red card shortly after for a shove on Emiliano Marcondes before a Watford corner.
The Canaries then took advantage of 10-man Watford, Sargent finding his third goal in two games.
A free-kick from the edge of the area was delivered in by Marcondes and eventually fell to Lucien Mahovo, whose airborne effort was deflected into the feet of Sargent, and he applied the finish to put City in front.
Watford started the second half much more attacking than the first, Edo Kayembe finding space to shoot inside the area, but his effort soared over the bar into the Rookery end.
The hosts enjoyed a longer spell of possession heading towards the hour mark, keeping the pressure on City's back line.
Ryan Andrews rifled a low shot goalwards but Angus Gunn collected to keep the Canaries ahead with 20 minutes to go.
Andrews was then required down the other end of the pitch as he picked up a yellow card for bringing down the City number nine, who was charging forward on the break.
Marcondes stood over the resulting free-kick but looped his effort just high.
Hoff Thorup introduced some fresh legs with five minutes to go to see out the game, Brad Hills and Ben Chrisene replacing Mahovo and Sargent.
Despite a final push from Watford, Norwich held on to the one-goal lead until the final whistle and walked away with all three points at Vicarage Road.
