Mathias Normann: I like to tackle and dictate the game

After completing a season-long loan signing with an option to buy, Mathias Normann sat down with canaries.co.uk for his first club interview.

The Norwegian defensive midfielder explained what he can bring to this Norwich City team and discussed the challenge of playing in the Premier League.

canaries.co.uk: Mathias, welcome to Norwich City. How do you feel about completing the move here?

MN: I’m very happy and first of all thank-you. I’m glad to be at this club and happy to be here.

canaries.co.uk: Tell us a bit about your career so far and the type of player you’ve become.

MN: I was in England before at Brighton in their second team, so I know about England. I went to Russia and developed and kind of found myself. I’m a defensive midfielder, I like to tackle, to win the ball and to use my body. I like to be on the ball and try to dictate the game.

canaries.co.uk: You didn’t get the chance to play in the Premier League for Brighton, so do you feel you have a point to prove?

MN: Absolutely. I think I’m ready for this level now and I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

canaries.co.uk: What are your early impressions of Norwich and how much are you looking forward to training here?

MN: This will be very exciting for me. I know that Norwich play very good football and they like to keep the ball. They have a lot of energy. I spoke a little bit to the coach and everything looks very good.

canaries.co.uk: Our previous Norwegian player, Alex Tettey, was a bit of a Norwich legend! Are you looking forward to representing Norway?

MN: Yeah, absolutely. Of course, my goal now is that the fans will also remember me when I leave!

canaries.co.uk: Do you feel match fit at the moment and ready to get straight into the action?

MN: Yeah, absolutely.

canaries.co.uk: You’ll be going back to Norway now for the international break so tell us a little bit about that.

MN: We have an important game now on Wednesday. I’m ready to do everything to win this game against Holland. Then we’ll go to Latvia and back home to face Gibraltar, so they will be three good games.

canaries.co.uk: So you might get the chance to meet Tim Krul!

MN: Yeah, I will try to score against him!

canaries.co.uk: How excited are you to play at Carrow Road in the future and see the Norwich fans?

MN: Of course, I’m very excited. I just want to finish this international break and come back to show myself to the fans. It will be amazing.

canaries.co.uk: So what’s your objective for the season ahead?

MN: My objective is to win games. I’m here to win games. I love to win, I hate to lose. That’s that, I’m here to win.
