Mathias Normann says he got a bit emotional on his return to first team action following three months out with a pelvic injury.

Speaking ahead of Friday night’s game with Southampton, Mathias who started Norwich City’s previous match at Anfield, said: “I remember when I came in for the FA Cup game against Wolves, I actually got a little bit emotional after the final whistle, because I was finally back and playing again.

“Starting my first game also felt amazing. I just want to keep playing now, to get back into normal shape and show what I have.

“In my opinion, very well against one of the biggest and best teams in the world,” he said. “We conceded three poor goals but there were a lot of positives to take from that game. So we take confidence going into the next game.

“All we have to do is stay solid at the back and do our thing offensively and then I think we can come out from there (Southampton) with three points.”

Asked if the players, playing on Friday night, would use that as motivation to put three points on the board and place pressure on the other teams around at them at the bottom of the table, Mathias added: “For me personally, I am always motivated no matter what is around me and what is happening in the other games, so I don’t think about that and I don’t think anybody around the
