Chance creation wasn't an issue for Norwich City in Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Wigan Athletic, but Max Aarons was frustrated with a lack of clinical edge in front of goal.
“I think it was an improvement on last week for sure," he told canaries.co.uk. "It was definitely a big improvement in the way we’re trying to move the ball and the patterns of play we’re trying to create.
“We just need a bit more ruthlessness in front of goal. We created opportunities, but more ruthlessness gets us the win. I’m frustrated that it hasn’t come for a few different reasons.
“At half-time, we were 1-0 behind and wanted to get back into the game at least to get a point. We are disappointed that we haven’t got the win today. Dominating the ball and having the chances we did, it’s frustrating.
“There’s differences in each team you come up against, and in this league we’re expected to really punish teams and have a lot more of the ball.
“Like I said, there’s a big improvement in the way we played, for sure.
"\[Marcelino Núñez\] looked sharp and, coming into a new league and a new country for him, it takes time to adapt. He can be proud of the way he’s come in today.”
Aarons' equaliser was his fifth goal for Norwich, and he's keen to get forward more to contribute with goals and assists.
“Really nice to equalise and score," he said. "I always want to contribute for the team, especially in attacking areas. That’s one area that I’ve really wanted to step up in. Obviously, we’re frustrated in the end not to get the penalty. That would’ve wrapped up a nice day with three points.
“There are a lot of games now. There are a few injuries, so we’ve just got to nurse a few of the boys through that and get the squad together. We’ve got a big squad now, so it’s important that everyone gets minutes.
“The cup game especially is a good chance for people to impress. Onwards we go.”
