Norwich City's final away game of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship ended in defeat, losing 2-1 away to West Bromwich Albion.

The Canaries started off as the brighter team, and registered an early chance through Christos Tzolis, whose shot was saved well by Alex Palmer.

Tzolis then found Josh Sargent, who did well to weave beyond a couple of markers. The US international's shot was wide, however.

The hosts would create chances of their own in the opening stages, as Brandon Thomas-Asante could've opened the scoring, but for a brilliant save from Angus Gunn.

Dimitris Giannoulis made a good run through the heart of the West Brom defence, but couldn't quite control Jacob Sørensen's long pass.

Gunn was called into action once again, as Semi Ajayi rose highest from a corner, with Gunn doing well to parry the ball away.

Norwich would open the scoring through Josh Sargent. Giannoulis found the US international in acres of space in the area, and he fired in for the opener.

But West Brom would equalise just before half-time, as Conor Townsend curled a free-kick into the top corner.

The hosts had the better start to the second half, and went in front as Jed Wallace tapped home from Townsend's ball.

And West Brom would hold on for all three points.
