To coincide with Earth Day this year, our Sky Bet Championship match against Swansea City today (Saturday, April 22) has been selected as a Pledgeball fixture.
Norwich City are committed to operating in a sustainable manner and reducing the environmental impact of our practices across all areas of the club.
This Earth Day, we want to highlight some of the changes we have made business-wide since 2019, in order to create a greener and more sustainable future.
###### Plastic saving and recycling
###### The club has removed the use of all plastic cutlery and crockery, instead implementing plastic-free pint cups, as well as using only recyclable paper carrier bags in our club shop.
###### Saving Energy
The club are on a 100% renewable energy tariff at Carrow Road and the Lotus Training Centre, as well as putting in a three-year rolling programme in place to change lighting at Carrow Road to LED.
Electric car charging points are in place at the Lotus Training Centre, whilst the academy building was designed with natural materials throughout.
A vegetable and herb patch has also been developed at the training ground which is used daily by the chefs in preparing meals for players, coaches and staff.
Delia's Canary Catering and Yellows Bar and Grill are dedicated to using fresh and locally sourced produce.
Water Optimisation
At both the Carrow Road stadium and at the Lotus Training Centre, boreholes are utilised to supply water for the irrigation of pitches reducing the demand on the fresh water supply. Natural rainwater is also collected at the training ground and used to water the pitches.
Staff/Partner Policy
All staff at Norwich City are encouraged to support our sustainability values in every way they can, including reducing printing, attending digital meetings where necessary, using reusable water bottles and taking part in our cycle to work scheme.
Other projects
The Lotus Training Centre is home to over 645 new and semi-mature planted trees, over 800 new plants, hedges, bushes, and flowers and a selection of beehives.
