Norwich City have entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Norwich City Historical Trust, recognising the close co-operation between the two parties.
The Norwich City Football Club Historical Trust was formed in 2002 on the club's centenary day and is a registered charity. Its purpose is to preserve objects and information relating to the club’s heritage and history. The club has benefited from the Historical Trust’s work and supports the Historical Trust’s intention to establish a permanent heritage centre at Carrow Road in the future.
The Historical Trust has four trustees: Richard Bland, James Woodrow, Rory Jackson and Glyn Wakefield. The Historical Trust has amassed a collection of nearly 25,000 items, which have been catalogued by the trustees using a collection management database typically used by museums. Each item is appropriately packaged and stored, with a second set of some items stored in a separate location. All items are held in accordance with the Trust’s collection policy, which is lodged with the Charity Commission.
In addition to collecting items, the Historical Trust has also maintained records of all matches played by the club and details of its players down to Under-18 level since 1902, which it is hoped may eventually become accessible digitally.
Supporters are encouraged to contribute to the Historical Trust’s activities. History is formed of small fragments. Any item or detail may help fill another piece in the jigsaw. Be it contact with a former player, someone with a single sheet programme, ticket, or any Norwich City item, or details of a friend or relative who played for the ‘B’ team, or someone with knowledge to share, the Trustees will be pleased to hear from you.
