Norwich City is delighted to announce that the club will be pledging support to Her Game Too, aiming to raise awareness on sexist abuse within the realms of football.
The Canaries join a number of other clubs from the Premier League, EFL and beyond to show commitment to the cause, helping to create further awareness around the problems females can face both on matchdays and online away from fixtures.
Legal and Governance Director Sam Hall, who is also the club’s EDI Lead and co-chair of Norwich City Women FC, was key in the linkup between the two parties. He said: “Championing women in sport is crucial to the community we have built at Norwich City. We are proud to have two females at the top of the club, in Delia Smith and Zoe Webber, who lead our diverse workforce.
“At Norwich City we work hard to drive inclusion in the supporter base and we take steps to eradicate sexist behaviour whenever it arises. We are committed to making the game accessible for the female player, coach, employee and supporter, both for this generation and for future generations.”
Her Game Too was founded by 12 passionate female football fans in May 2021 with a special launch video uploaded to social media. Since then, the campaign has only continued to grow – with the video now having amassed 1.8 million views.
The individuals involved with Her Game Too are helping to build a more welcoming environment for young girls and females at stadiums, championing women who play football, work in football and support football.
They also continue to campaign against the online abuse women suffer and sexism attached to the game, to ensure women are respected equally and can feel safe doing something they love.
Norwich City’s Her Game Too ambassador Jessica Pye said: “I am absolutely thrilled that my club, Norwich City, have pledged their support to HerGameToo, and I really look forward to us working together.
“Carrow Road will always be A Home for Everyone, and I really hope that we can go a long way to realising that through the work we do at HerGameToo.”
The club takes pride in being an open and inclusive environment for players, staff and fans, exemplified by our Home for Everyone campaign, which ties into the Her Game Too philosophy.
