Norwich City are pleased to be involved in the sponsoring of two sculptures in Break’s GoGoDiscover trail, taking place across Norwich and Norfolk this summer.
There are 177 sculptures in total for trailgoers to discover across the event, which begins on Monday, June 27, running until Saturday, September 10 and is the largest trail in Norfolk to date.
This is the fourth sculpture trail hosted in Norfolk by the charity, with gorillas, dragons, and hares taking the limelight in previous years. This year’s trail is the second instalment of a Jurassic theme, that follows on from the 2021 Dippy the Diplodocus on Tour exhibition.
The trail will raise money to support Break, a charity making lives better for children and young people in care, on the edge of care or leaving care across East Anglia. Money will be raised via donations during the trail, the sale of raffle tickets to be in with a chance to win a medium-sized mosaic T.rex sculpture, sponsorship by ‘taking on the trail’, and at an auction of sculptures at Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday, September 28.
Corporate Fundraising Officer Ellie Edge from Break said: “We are really pleased to have Norwich City involved – when you think of Norwich, you think of the football club.
“Every time we’ve had a sculpture trail, there has been a Norwich-City themed sculpture and synonymously, they’ve always gone really well at auction. They’re always really popular on the trails and a firm favourite with visitors.”
All of the sculptures have been worked on by various local companies and artists who have brought the project to life.
Mik Richardson, the artist who helped to implement the club’s vision with the sculptures, said: “Since the first trail back in 2008, I’ve done 116 of these sculptures around the country but this is the biggest piece of work I have done to date and the biggest challenge.
“I’m really happy with how it turned out. It wanted to encapsulate everything about Norwich and Norfolk and show off Norwich City, which I think it has done.”
Norwich City’s steppe mammoth sculpture will be based near the club shop, whilst the T.rex will be positioned in the Fan Hub on London Street.
An app available to download will allow trailgoers to unlock different rewards and discounts as they collect the sculptures on the trail. Please note that some of these awards may be subject to availability and may be altered throughout the trail.
