Over the last few months, Norwich City has been helping to raise money for the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal in a number of ways.
The club has teamed up with SOUL Church to help organise ‘backpacks of hope’ for those in need in Ukraine.
Club partner Joma have donated over 300 rucksacks and the club store has donated a further 300, each of which has been filled with essential items funded by first team players, staff and the Soul Church team.
Norwich City have also been raising money through the club auction page after first team players and staff signed the warm-up tops worn in our Brentford fixture earlier this year.
The Ukrainian flag was printed over the top of the usual WarPaint for Men sponsor logo for the match to show the club’s support for Ukraine.
A total of £4,349.18 has been raised through the auction items for the Disaster & Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
The first team players were also keen to personally contribute what they could to the cause, working together to donate essential items to those in need.
Speaking on behalf of the playing squad, Christoph Zimmermann said: “Donating money and getting involved was something that we felt pretty strongly on. We know we’re fortunate to lead privileged lifestyles and it is during these times and when you hear of the news in Ukraine when we really feel that.
“We have such a great group of players and staff together. Everyone was more than happy to help with something like this.
“It’s important to ensure that we knew exactly what was most needed, so via the club we got in contact with the relevant organisations. Once that process was going, I think between the lads we had around 29 bags of essential items that we were able to send to those in need.”
