Norwich City came away from the Select Car Leasing Stadium with a share of the spoils in their contest against Reading.

Grant Hanley opened the scoring in the 50th minute in the 1-1 draw before the home side got one back 10 minutes later.

It came after an opening 45 minutes where neither side were able to break the other down.

The chance of the half fell to Reading's Andy Carroll, the towering striker latching on to a Junior Hoilett cross and sending a header goalward only for Tim Krul to pull off an astounding save from point blank range.

Outside of that, shots on goal were few and far between. Ireland international Jeff Hendrick tried his luck from range but saw his shot sail wide of the post.

City's best spell of play saw Max Aarons send Kenny McLean behind the Reading rearguard but his pull-back was diverted onto his own crossbar by Tom McIntyre.

The second half was immediately better from the visitors with Núñez having an effort after a quick counter-attack.

A sign of the increased threat to come.

And when Max Aarons got down the line and had a cross diverted behind, Norwich made it count.

The delivery was nodded on by Sam Byram via Josh Sargent and the captain Hanley was at the back post to tuck it home on the half-volley.

Moments later, it could have been two. Another quick break saw Sargent fire a ball across the face of the goal but with just too much on it for McLean to get meaningful contact on it.

The basis for Reading's solid home record this season was shown as they pulled the upper hand back from Norwich on the hour mark.

After a period of sustained pressure, Hendrick struck home from the edge of the box to level matters.

The introduction of Onel Hernández proved a spark for Norwich but without creating any clear cut chances in front of goal.

From there, Norwich had the best chance when Andrew Omobamidele glanced a header wide in the closing minutes.
