Norwich City Under-18s forward Oscar Thorn said it was a 15-minute period in the first half of Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat at home to Stoke City that cost Norwich the game.
“We started very well, going 2-0 up, but let our heads drop for 15 minutes and they punished us,” he said. “We couldn’t find the last touch to get the goal to make it 3-3 again, so not our day.
“Next time, we just need to stay on it for the whole 90 and we’ll be alright.
“We knew we were the better side for the whole game except for that 15 minutes. We just wanted to push on to try to find that next goal but we couldn’t in the end.”
Thorn scored Norwich’s second goal of the night with a lovely volley after Ola Okeowo picked him out with a precise ball over the top.
“It was a brilliant ball from Ola,” Thorn said. “He found me really well and I saw the ‘keeper off his line so I thought I might as well just hit it and it went in, so all good.
“We talked about it, from minute one, just slide the ball down the line and I’ll be there because I felt like I had the left centre-back, so we tried that and it worked. We just couldn’t get the final touch onto it from my crosses.
“They went three at the back and started reading our balls in behind and did well to do that, but against Reading we’ll look to get the three points, whether it’s a different game plan or the same game plan.”
