Pierre Lees-Melou felt Norwich City were hard done by to lose 3-2 against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
“It’s a disappointing result because we made a good start and had a big opportunity with Teemu,” he said. “We gave away a stupid goal but we showed today we are a compact team with solidarity because we came back to score two goals and then Ronaldo had the free-kick.
“I want to say we were a little bit unlucky because we had opportunities and we lost this game.
“We showed good spirit. It’s never easy when you’re losing 2-0 against United in their stadium to come back. We did that but then there was the free-kick.”
Pierre has played the last two games in the number ten position and is enjoying his central attacking role.
“At the moment, I’m on the pitch and I like it,” he said. “I’ve played number ten for two games and I have lots of space around the box, so I can give assists like last week. I like this position also.”
City face Newcastle United at home next Saturday as the battle to survive in the Premier League continues.
“It’s a big game,” said Pierre. “There are only six games and they are six finals for us. We have to take as many points as we can.
“The fans are unbelievable. After 2-0, they couldn’t stop clapping and singing. They were here all the time and after 2-2 it was unbelievable. They were still with us when we were losing again, so it’s unbelievable.”
