Norwich City’s first-team players, head coach Philippe Clement and sporting director Ben Knapper have all donated a day’s salary towards the club’s Community Sports Foundation.
The donation comes ahead of the club’s designated Community Sports Foundation takeover fixture against Birmingham City at Carrow Road this weekend.
In the build up to the fixture, a number of initiatives and activities will take place in and around the stadium, all with the aim of spotlighting the work of the Community Sports Foundation and raising additional funds for their ongoing work in the region.
There will also be a presentation recognising the outstanding support of the Norwich City Fans Social Club. Over 10 years of tireless fundraising, the Fans Social Club - supported by Fosters Solicitors - have now raised an incredible £100,000 for the Foundation.
Club captain Kenny McLean said: “All of the players, as well as the staff around the club, see and experience first-hand some of the work of our Community Sports Foundation. They’re integral to our people and community, and we’re all thankful for everything that they continue to do.
“Hopefully, this gesture and donation shows our appreciation for everything that they do, and allows them to continue their amazing work within our community.”
Ian Thornton OBE, chief executive officer of the Community Sports Foundation, added: “This donation means a great deal to us. When a team comes together like this, it sends a powerful message – that they believe in the work we’re doing and want to stand with the people we support. We’re truly grateful for their commitment.
“I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ben, Philippe, Kenny and the whole team for choosing to make a difference. Their generosity will help us reach more individuals across Norfolk, offering life‑changing opportunities to those who need them most.”
Clement was also present at the Foundation’s recent annual awards ceremony at The Nest, where individuals were recognised for their outstanding work and contributions towards the community and Foundation over the recent year.
