Norwich City began their 2025/26 pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win against Northampton Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Avant Training Centre.

In Liam Manning's first fixture in charge of the Canaries, summer signings Harry Darling, Jakov Medić and Dan Grimshaw were named in the starting line-up, with academy players Alan Domeracki and Brandon Forbes also starting against the Cobblers.

Norwich's first chance fell to Forbes, who tried his luck from range after Northampton goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons gave the ball away outside the area. The young Scotsman's effort was off-target, however.

Emmanuel Adegboyega was next to threaten, rising highest from Forbes' cross, but his header was just wide of the post.

The Canaries continued their shots on goal, with Jack Stacey seeing his effort palmed wide of the post by the Northampton 'keeper.

And Norwich's dominance eventually paid off as Matěj Jurásek opened the scoring. Racing through from a Josh Sargent pass, the 21-year-old rounded the Cobblers' goalkeeper and tapped into an empty net.

And only a few minutes after replacing Jurásek, substitute La'Sean Sealey rose highest to double Norwich's lead from Jacob Wright's cross.

Northampton did pull a goal back before half-time through Michael Jacobs. Grimshaw made a good save to deny the first effort, but couldn't stop the follow-up.

An entirely new XI was introduced for the second half, with Louie Moulden making his first appearance for the club alongside a number of players from the Under-21s.

Ken Aboh flashed a promising ball across the Northampton goal, but neither Dylan Jones or Errol Mundle-Smith could get on the end of the cross.

Late on, Norwich added a third goal as Mundle-Smith's pass across goal was diverted into his own goal by Northampton defender Jordan Willis.

The Canaries now head to the Netherlands for their pre-season training camp.
