Bio: Born in St Ives, John Ruddy began his career at Cambridge United in League Two before signing for Everton. However, he made just one first team for the Toffees, when shot stoppers Nigel Martyn and Richard Wright were ruled out through injury and third choice keeper Iain Turner was sent-off nine minutes into the match against Blackburn Rovers for handling outside the area. Ruddy kept a clean sheet as Everton won the match 1-0.

Whilst at Goodison, John had loan spells at Walsall, Rushden & Diamonds, Chester City, Stockport County, Wrexham, Bristol City, Stockport County, Crewe Alexandra and Motherwell. He joined Norwich City in 2010 for a fee of £250,000, in 2010.

During the 2010/11 season, John played 45 out of 46 league matches helping City to the Premier League. He kept a clean sheet during the 1-0 away win against Portsmouth on May 2, 2011, which sealed promotion for the Canaries.

John started the next season as first choice keeper making 37 appearances as the club finished 12th in the Premier League, but an injury midway through the following season ruled him out for three months of the campaign. He returned to the number one spot the following season through making 38 appearances as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

He helped the club bounce back at the first attempt and would go onto achieve another promotion from the Championship in 2018 with Wolverhampton Wanderers, having left Norwich in the summer of 2017.

Where is he now?

Having helped Wolves to promotion from the Championship in 2018, John has spent the last three seasons in the Premier League with the club. However, he had made just three league appearances in that time. Last season he played six first team games for the Wolves, including Premier League games against Liverpool and Everton, along with cup matches against Stoke City, Crystal Palace, Chorley and Southampton.
