Bio: Wes Hoolahan joined Norwich, from Blackpool, in the summer of 2008, signing a three-year deal at the club. His first campaign didn’t go to plan as Norwich City were relegated from the Championship.

However, the following season – under the management of Paul Lambert – Hoolahan was played further forward and flourished scoring 14 goals in 42 matches as Norwich won the League One title.

The following season, back in the Championship, Wes netted 10 goals in 44 appearances for the Canaries including a double in a 4-3 win over Leicester City and a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over Sheffield United.

Norwich were promoted at the end of that season and, back in the topflight, Wes netted the club’s first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Wigan. Before the start of the next campaign, Wes was given the captain’s armband and was then inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame on March 20, 2012.

The following season, Norwich were relegated from the Premier League, with Wes making just 16 appearances, but the Canaries bounced back at the first attempt and he would play a further 30 games in the topflight in the 2015/16 season. He then won the player-of-the-season award for the 2016/17 campaign back in the Championship, scoring seven times in 33 games. His final game for Norwich City came at the end of the next campaign at home to Leeds United where he was given a guard of honour by both teams and a warm reception from the home crowd for his 10 years’ service to Norwich City.

Where is he now?

Wes has just been promoted from League Two with Cambridge United at the age of 39. He played 32 games for the U’s last season and netted seven goals as they finished second in the division to get one of the three automatic promotion spots to League One.
