Norwich City Women head coach Andy Cook was pleased with his side's performance against Real Bedford, highlighting the positive of a return from Ellie Smith.
City were ahead for most of the contest but were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw away to the league leaders.
"It's a very good point to take, I think we we felt like we probably should have won the game on the edge of the chances we created," Cook said.
"Holly's had a great one at the end and we had a game plan and it worked to a certain extent, but Bedford came back into it in the second half and got the shot that's gone bottom corner.
"That's part of football, that's a part of the game; they managed to find a way back and get the point.
"It feels like two dropped from the position we were in, but we felt we played brilliantly and the way that we've worked over the last month has been fantastic.
"I'm really pleased with everyone right now; Bedford were flying, particularly in the second half."
Cook dissected the performance positively but highlighted areas where he felt improvement was needed on the day.
"We said the next goal was the most important one and Bedford got it, but what we wanted to do was really catch them on the counter and work like that, I think.
"We were probably 10, 20 yards further back than maybe we needed to be, but that's always going to happen when the home team are applying that sort of pressure; it leaves more space in behind.
"We just didn't quite exploit it as as well as we did in the first half.
"It was a good overall performance in regards to where we've been over the previous six weeks.
"Having Ellie Smith back is really good, gives me a big headache; she'll want to be back in, playing and starting, but Freya (Symonds), Sienna (Booty) have been brilliant in the start of this year.
"Everyone's fighting for places, we left out a lot of good players this weekend as well.
"Tamsin (Medd-Gill) didn't even get minutes today and she's obviously disappointed, but we need to keep working, keep driving and keep the standards high because we've got a busy week and a half coming up against Chatham and Sudbury."
