Centre-half Shane Duffy says that he and his Norwich City teammates believe that they can generate the momentum to move up the Sky Bet Championship table in the second half of this season.
Speaking after the 2-1 win at Hull City's MKM Stadium on Friday night, Duffy outlined the importance of the result against a team also targeting the play-off spots.
"It's important to get a win, back on track," he said.
"It's a tough place to come, they were very good in the first half but we scored against the run of play which was in our favour. It was a tough game and we're delighted to come away with three points."
Christian Fassnacht scored Norwich's second in the 88th minute, adding to Jonathan Rowe's stunning first-half strike, but Tyler Morton would make it a nervy finish for the Canaries.
"I was disappointed actually (to concede). When we went 2-0, I though we stopped a little bit, thought it was over and that was disappointing. Nobody closed down the shot which we were doing all day and stopping a lot of things.
"We had (Angus) Gunny in goal tonight who was outstanding. We probably didn't play great football on the eye, the pitch wasn't great but that's no excuse, they had the same. We ground it out, it was a team full of men out there tonight."
It's the first win of 2024 for the squad after consecutive 1-1 draws followed a couple of 1-0 defeats to end Norwich's 2023, but Duffy maintains that the belief in the dressing room has not wavered.
"The belief's always there. Listen, we know the results have to be better. We know that as a group and the manager demands that," he explained.
"It's up to us to put it right, the games have been tight enough but we've lost them so it's important to have that winning feeling back again, especially away from home. The fans traveling are outstanding for this club and it's nice to repay them on an away day.
"Momentum in this league is the most important thing. If you look at the history, momentum in the second half of the season can take you right up there and we've just beat someone who will be around the play-offs so it's an important win.
"We've got tough fixtures coming up but we're full of belief. We're a good team, we just need more consistency."
