Reaction | Gunn - We need consistency

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn says that Norwich City need more consistency ahead of the start of the Sky Bet Championship season.

City ended their pre-season with a 3-1 defeat against Bundesliga side St Pauli at Carrow Road.

"It's disappointing because we wanted to go into the season with a win. It's been a tough pre-season, I've only been in a couple of weeks but I know the lads have been working hard before that. It's been very intense the last few weeks," Gunn explained.

"It's all about getting the minutes in the tank, we're obviously very disappointed in the dressing room to not get a win today. There were signs where we did good things in the game, especially at the start, the first 15 minutes were very promising. Unfortunately, their goal put us back and we didn't recover very well. We were disappointed with the way we finished the first half in the end."

Gunn outlined the positive spells that City have had in games during the pre-season but have failed to fully capitalise.

The Scotland international says that a full 90-minute performance needs to be perfected ahead of the trip to Oxford next week.

"I think it was pretty similar, there wasn't enough consistency throughout the 90 minutes. There were signs that were very positive, we created chances but haven't taken enough of them. Like I said before, we just need to find that consistency through the whole 90 minutes and stop giving away sloppy goals," he added.

"That's setting us back in the games, our reaction in the second half was good and we need to take that second 45 into the first game of the season next week. "
