Reaction | Hoff Thorup: Mentality was really good

Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup was delighted with his squad after the 4-0 Sky Bet Championship victory over Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

Marcelino Núñez and Josh Sargent scored first half goals before Kaide Gordon and Borja Sainz added to them in the second half.

"That's why we're in the business, to try to entertain, play games where we enjoy it and where we're just out there doing what we love to do. The best moments in the game today were really beautiful moments and definitely why we're here," Hoff Thorup said.

"The start of the game was fantastic, we created two chances before we score the first goal, which is the smallest chance of them all, and then a fantastic goal for the second one.

"The mentality and the attitude for us, trying to get forward, trying to score the next goal, so many players involved in the goals that we scored. I think, especially the first 25 minutes, really, really good."

After the win, he also pointed out that there will still be areas for the team to improve on at this early stage in his reign.

Early in the second half is one area in particular he highlighted as Hull looked likely to score before City's third killed the game off.

"There are so many great teams in this league, and we're not there yet where we can dominate for 90 minutes. Hopefully, some day we can do it without having these moments in the game where we defend too much. That's still something we have to look at, and something we have to improve," he explained.

"There will always be something. I go home and have dinner with my family, after that I will look at the game again. And, I'll always find moments, sometimes too many, but we have to do that because it's a fine balance.

"We have to enjoy and celebrate the good moments out there but we also have an obligation to be even better next week. We always look at performances critically because that's what we have to do."
