Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup says that he and his staff, alongside the players, need to find a remedy for the current poor away form.
Norwich suffered a 3-0 defeat against struggling QPR at Loftus Road, with September 28 at Pride Park being the last time that City won on the road.
"It was bad. From the very start of the game, we didn't manage to find the flow that we want, that we need," he said.
"I highlighted for the boys at half-time that we need to find out what it is travelling away from home to be better in these individual fights going on in the midfield and the full-back positions and up front.
"We don't deal with it well enough. We're simply too easy to score against, too easy to create dangerous situations against."
He said he expects the same battle when he brings Norwich to Fratton Park on Tuesday night, with emphasis being placed on how he now needs to address the away results.
"Games like this will keep on coming. Tuesday night will be exactly the same, they'll try to open us up with passes in behind us, creating the 'second-ball' moments in the game, free-kicks, corner-kicks and all that where it is random situations you need to deal with. At the moment, we're not dealing with them that well."
At Loftus Road, City had two goals disallowed for offside that replays suggested were legitimate goals, while a handball was also waved away in the penalty area.
Hoff Thorup refused to be drawn on a comment on the performance of the officials, indicating instead that they are doing a difficult job with the assistance afforded to them at this level.
"They do everything that they can. I went to them after the game because I needed to present some things for them to talk about some of the decisions but that's between me and the ref."
