Head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup says that the pre-season schedule has given him some answers about his squad ahead of next weekend's opener.
City suffered a 3-1 defeat to Bundesliga side St Pauli at Carrow Road in their final outing before the Championship season begins.
"I think it's a little bit of tricky one today. I think we start so well, the first 15/20 minutes are maybe the best we have performed so far," the Dane said post-match.
"But of course we don't score, then we concede on a corner-kick which is an area we have to improve and be better. In the minutes after, we are a little bit shaky, maybe lose a bit of confidence but we should not go to half-time down by three. It's not that kind of game."
Jonathan Rowe scored immediately after half-time, his fourth goal in six pre-season games.
His goal came from a well-placed pass from Jacob Sørensen, but it was all City could muster in reply to the German side's three first-half goals.
"(At half-time) We showed some situations where we need to be better, take better care of the ball. We were not satisfied with the two goals that we just gave away, gave clear chances. We had to highlight that," Hoff Thorup added.
"We had to show a better structure, better positions but also better decisions on the ball. Then get back to the rhythm again, but also know that a fourth goal could kill the game completely. So, play that second half with respect for the result but also for us to see if we can improve some of the things that didn't go well enough in the last 25 minutes of the first half."
José Córdoba was absent from the matchday squad once again after picking up a slight knock.
And there appeared to be more defensive injury woe for the Canaries when Kellen Fisher was replaced late in the game.
"Minor injury (José) and one for us not to take any risks so we can have him ready for Saturday.
"Without knowing too much, I think Kellen is OK. He didn't look too severe so I think he'll be OK but, of course, without knowing everything."
It's now just seven days until City open their campaign against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.
It will also be Hoff Thorup's first competitive game in charge of the club.
"I'm looking forward now. We've had two games against two good sides from the top tier in Germany where we could really see that we have to get up to speed to be able to compete.
"But, we also saw that we are playing well, especially the first 20 minutes where we were doing well, we really created chances and should have scored goals.
"These games have given us a lot of answers and hopefully we can get up to speed with teams playing on a higher level than us so we can use that when we step into the season."
