Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup was left to rue a poor start to the game as the Canaries lost 2-1 to Bristol City on Friday night.
Mark Syke and Nahki Wells gave the hosts a 2-0 advantage early on at Ashton Gate before Borja Sainz pulled one back late on.
"We're annoyed with the situation where, again, we don't get something out of a game where we created so many chances," Hoff Thorup said afterwards.
"Obviously, because of the poor start to the game, we get ourselves into a situation where we have to change too much. For 20 minutes in the first half, we are a little bit all over the place but praise to the boys for getting rid of many emotions at half-time and making sure we gave it a shot in the second.
"I actually think in the first half, offensively, there are many good things and we should have scored at least one goal. It tells a little bit of where we are at the moment, we get punished really hard for mistakes and we don't do that to the opposition."
With just one point two points from four games since the 4-2 home win against Stoke, it's been a frustrating run for the Dane and his charges.
"The mood in the dressing room is a little bit different to what it was on Tuesday night. There was a lot of frustration on Tuesday but, today, the players could feel that it was one of those games where we should at least get a draw based on all the chances that we created.
"Most of them can see that but they also acknowledge and accept that it's difficult at the moment. We really have to fight hard to make sure that we get something out of it."
With the top six edging away from Norwich in the last couple of weeks, Hoff Thorup says that he feels his side should be closer to it.
Yet, he still holds hope and will look to bounce back after the international window.
"If the situation had been different in the season with more availability with some of our key players, I would expect us to be around the top six at the moment. I have to accept that's not been the case so far, a lot of young players have got experience in a league where it's competitive and it's tough business," he added.
"I need to be realistic and say, with the group of players that have played a lot of games for us, we've played to where we are at the moment. I'm not too bothered with deserved or not deserved, we are where we are. We'll give it a push towards the end and see where we can go, I don't think for the moment it's that important to talk about positions in the league or targets for us, we just have to make sure that we get a very good performance at home against West Brom."
