Johannes Hoff Thorup was pleased with his team's performance after their comeback 2-2 draw with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Austria.
The Canaries' head coach believed that his team showed some quality in the first half despite trailing the Bundesliga side by two at the break.
"I highlighted to the players at half time to show even more of what we did in the first half," Hoff Thorup said.
"We created chances, we should have scored and we had some good moments from minute 20 to minute 45.
"We showed that we are a team that could control matches. I highlighted at half-time that the chances will come and then it's about efficiency at the end."
On the performance against high-quality opposition:
"In the first half 50 per cent of it was good and it's fair to say that it was an even game.
"It is pleasing, I think it's fair to say that we played the best game of the pre-season. I think definitely some very, very good moments.
"What was important for me and the rest of the team and for everyone to see is that when we find the rhythm and find the good structure we are able to compete on this level and can also create chances.
"Like I said, we should have scored in the first half; we had some very big chances and also some big chances in the second half and fortunately converted two goals and could have scored one more at the end.
"I am pleased we were able to create chances and for long periods we looked like a good football team."
On introducing new signing Ben Chrisene to the game late on:
"He's a technical skilled player, has some good off the ball movements and will be an offensive asset for us as well. It was just important for us to get him integrated in the group to give him the feeling that he is part of this already.
"It was good to have him and good that he's here and I'm really looking forward to the future with him."
The head coach revealed the reason for some player unavailability:
"José Córdoba was out because he felt a little bit of tightness after the session yesterday and we assisted him this morning.
"Kellen Fisher had a sore throat and was not ready to play today.
"With Adam (Idah), he reported late for the flight on Sunday. We decided of course he should come as quickly as possible but of course he cannot be part of this game today because this is something we cannot accept."
On the camp in Austria so far:
"It's good because we can dig into details and have the time to analyse, the time to go through talks with the players and get them even more involved with the way that we want to play.
"It's important for us that we play against teams where we can get up to speed. It's not important for us, or at least not that much the result in the game but that we can get up to speed and also we need to try this new way of playing against teams where we really, really have to be on our toes to be able to succeed."
"So a step in the right direction and a good camp so far."
