Norwich City defender Ruairi McConville reflected on Saturday's defeat to Hull, saying the squad could take plenty from it into next season.
"It was a great atmosphere and these are the games that you want to play in.
"We were unfortunate not to come into this game with something to play for, but the manager made sure we were all up for it and we came here wanting to win regardless of what was going on for them.
"We wanted to win the game and we were unfortunate not to do that; I think we played very well in the first half, I just think there was a lapse of concentration and such an easy goal you concede after starting so well and scoring well.
"I think we've ended the season well with a good performance and we've got so much to take in the next year.
"It's a bit deflating but if you look from where we came from, even having the chance of getting play-offs is good for us, but we were obviously frustrated to miss out and it'll give us that motivation to go and do what's happened here today.
"That'll push us on next year and the boys will be ready from the start of pre-season to to try and start the season well next year.
"They've stuck by us and they've pushed us on when when times are tough and I think you have to have to say a big a big thanks to them and we'll need them again next year because we we have big ambitions and big aspirations and we want to push on."
On his return from injury, the Northern Ireland international said: "It's been tough, I've just ridden the last few weeks with a few injuries and sickness, but I'm obviously happy to have ended with a game, frustrating the way it went obviously with the penalty but it's been a season of so much to learn from.
"I'm eager to get back again next year and push on to hopefully better myself for me and for this club."
