Kenny McLean spoke to Canaries TV after his first appearance of pre-season against Standard de Liége
In almost 30 degree heat, Borja Sainz was Norwich's goalscorer in a 1-1 draw against the Belgian Pro League side.
McLean played the first half having returned to the fold last week following his participation in UEFA Euro 2024 with Scotland.
"Tough. Hot. It's not my weather but it was good to get out there and get some minutes under the belt. I think that's what early stages of pre-season are all about, getting some fitness and minutes back in the legs," McLean said.
"We want to be better and I think that will come the more games we play together. It's been really good to be out here (in Belgium), we've had a good few days on the training pitch as well. The lads played a game on Wednesday so it's been a good week for us and we'll continue to get better."
McLean has also been the subject of some speculation surrounding his future of late, but the 2023/24 Player of the Season reaffirmed his commitment to the club post-match.
"The older you get, there's talk about my future and stuff but I've got a couple of years here. I've been in with the manager for a week now and it's something that I really, really want to be a part of," he added.
"I think we can be successful under this manager. Even just in the short time working with him, his ideas seem excellent. Hopefully, we can take that on to the pitch and I can be a big part of it."
