Norwich City head coach David Wagner says he is disappointed to exit the Carabao Cup, but praised his team's level of performance after the defeat to Fulham.
The Canaries were beaten by the Premier League club, with Carlos Vinicius and Alex Iwobi on the scoresheet for the hosts. Borja Sainz came off the bench to pull one back, but Norwich couldn't find an equaliser.
"If you concede a defeat you are never happy," Wagner said.
"But what we've seen today performance-wise from the squad was very good. It's nice to see, even if we've made so many changes and gave some players their debut as well.
"We were able to see how we like to play, how we like to defend. This was good to see. Unfortunately, we didn't score a further goal. Whoever is on the pitch, the cup is there to give every game a go like we did in the two previous rounds.
"Performance-wise, we were back to our level and back to our demands. Nobody likes to concede defeats, but it's all about changing the future."
Jaden Warner made his first-team debut for the club, and Wagner highlighted the quality displayed by the younger and senior members of his side during the game.
"He's done very well for his debut against a good side, he was very good. Kellen Fisher, as well, played very well against a top winger in Willian.
"All the guys, Ben Gibson who did really well in leading this young side. Adam Forshaw, too, who got his first start for the club and was very solid. All over the place, and Borja got a debut goal. There's so many good situations and individual performances."
