Norwich City head coach David Wagner says his side's 2-1 win over Hull City on the opening day of the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship was well-deserved.
Adam Idah scored a last-minute winner for the Canaries, as they began the season with three points. Jonathan Rowe had earlier scored the equaliser after Liam Delap's opener for Hull.
"It was an incredible afternoon," Wagner said.
"I think the atmosphere was electric on the stands and on the pitch as well. There was a real togetherness between the players and the fans.
"In the first half, we kept going and they kept going too. I think they've seen and felt how well we played. It's not a question that the win was deserved.
"The timings of the goals were both very late, which might look a little bit lucky, but it was anything but lucky today. It was a well deserved win, credit to the boys."
Wagner was pleased to see some of his pre-season planning pay off with the defensive patterns showing, while the fitness showed with an added-time goal in each half.
"Offensively, they've done a lot of good things. They found a lot of good patterns defensively as well," he added.
"Second half, we were not as clear in creating our chances like we were in the first half. But as always, we have to believe and we have to try until the end. Obviously, fitness plays a crucial part. But late in stoppage time, we were there with the winner."
Wagner also spoke about Rowe, whose strike just before the break put the Canaries on level terms.
"It was a wonderful goal, and for 65 minutes he was outstanding. He was a threat offensively, and everything that he did was clear, and he looked very mature.
"He dribbled when necessary, he passed when necessary. He made so many good decisions in defensive positions. He worked unbelievably hard as well, and scored a very nice goal."
