Head coach David Wagner believes that the small margins decided his side's defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road.
An early Patrick Bamford header settled the contest in favour of the hosts, but Norwich did have their chances to level the game throughout.
"It was a quite tight game, an even game which the result shows," Wagner said.
"We had good moments, good spells especially in the second half with the ball without being super dangerous in the final third. In the first half we conceded a goal which we should defend better, in the 50-50 situations and the calmness on the ball. Before the goal, we have to solve these situations better.
"We missed a big chance just before half-time, one of the biggest chances in the game unfortunately and then maybe the game looked different. We gave them a game, the boys tried everything so I'm proud of how they invested everything. Games like this and last weekend where we won against West Brom are tight and the small margins decide it, today they were not in our favour and this is why we lost it."
Unbeaten at home so far this season, Leeds were forced to hang on in the end as the Canaries chased the equaliser but it wasn't forthcoming.
"They are a top side, especially offensively. You can see the individuals that they have are a threat but we kept them quite calm. The opportunities that they had, especially in the second half, only came after our turnovers where we were not accurate enough in our passing.
"They didn't really create anything while we were in our mid block. It was a good game but small margins decided it against us. We are on our way and we'll keep going."
Wagner also outlined that he has some decisions to make with his squad ahead of another trip north this weekend.
Norwich will be at Anfield on Sunday afternoon to play Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
"We'll have to see, Jonny Rowe has a problem with his hand. We'll have to look at that further. Obviously, we have to look after Josh Sargent as well, how many games he can get in a week but it looks like everyone apart from those two are ready to go. We'll have a look at them over the next couple of days and then we'll decide."
