Norwich City head coach David Wagner says he is very happy about his side's result, as they were 2-0 winners over Huddersfield Town.

The Canaries claimed a win in their final home game of 2023, courtesy of second half goals from Sam McCallum and Borja Sainz.

"I'm very very happy about the result," Wagner said. "I think the players have done great this afternoon, they put a big shift in.

"They played very good football, never got frustrated which is something you can easily do when you play against an opponent that sits so deep.

"We scored some great goals, one from a substitute in Sam as well, which I always like. And we were able to score more, it was a good performance. Very strong on the counter press, and they were never really able to hurt us on the counter.

"We had to be patient, and we knew this. We've said this before, nobody should underestimate Huddersfield. They had only lost one in six, and all the games they had played had been quite tight.

"That meant we had to be on it, we had to be focused, concentrated and play with intensity against a team that sits so deep. Then later on, you'd have more gaps and spaces and this is exactly what the players have done."

After a goalless first half, McCallum headed in two minutes into the second half. The head coach says he wanted the team to add intensity to their first half performance.

"We needed to stick to our game plan. We had the whole 90 minutes plus stoppage time to win this game, and this is our aim to win. We repeated this at half-time, and then we score from a set-piece, and that always helps.

"And then how the players continued to play was very good, and they played in the right areas and everyone attacked the right way with an attacking mindset. Two goals and a clean sheet, which is always nice to have.

"Now we look forward to Boxing Day. West Brom away, a big occasion. A big competitor as well, and we'll take it game by game. This is the next one, and we are looking forward to it and try our best again."
