Norwich City Women had an impressive pre-season win against Billericay Town on Sunday afternoon, beating the Tier 3 side 4-2 away from home.

Head coach Andy Cook made five changes to the side that had beaten Wroxham 5-0 during the week, bringing back 'keeper Sarah Quantrill, Hope Strauss and Freya Symonds plus new signings Ella Powell and Lara Densley.

City dominated from the off and left Town little opportunity to threaten in the 90 minutes played, with new youngster Densley shining for the Canaries with a brace.

The first corner of the match went Norwich's way, and the resulting clearance fell to Powell on the edge of the box, but her effort fell straight to the hands of Katie O'Hanlon in goal.

Symonds found Ellie Smith well in the box who evaded three defenders to get a blocked shot in from close range and Issy Moore looped a shot goalward on the rebound, but made an easy collection for O'Hanlon again.

City stayed on top and in control for the opening 15, but were not able to create anything dangerous enough to change the scoreline.

Valentine Pursey was the first Town player to create any kind of threat for the home side, getting a shot away inside the box that dragged wide of the target.

Smith was then in action down the other end, making a terrific tackle in the City six-yard box to prevent what looked like a certain Billericay goal.

City finally found their breakthrough just before half an hour, as Natasha Snelling made a sliding tackle to win the ball back deep in the Town half, allowing Symonds to set-up Smith on the edge of the area.

Her initial shot was parried away but only as far as Densley, who slotted home from close-range.

Smith had two chances with five minutes left of the half, firing just wide across goal and then rattling the crossbar a minute later.

With just a minute to go to the break, Snelling extended the Canaries' lead with a beautiful shot from distance, looping the ball over O'Hanlon and finding the top corner.

The Yellows were't finished the half yet as Symonds took a short corner to Densley, who went for goal outside the area and found the roof of the net to make it three before the whistle went.

Billericay started the second half looking more dangerous, calling Quantrill into action to scoop up a ball into her six-yard box.

Smith and Snelling each had another shot at goal shortly after, neither able to find the target early on in the second 45.

Densley nearly completed her hat-trick after 57 minutes, latching on to the end of a Snelling cross from the right, but she wasn't able to keep the shot on target.

A fresh set of legs for both sides evened things up, and after 65 minutes Billericay pulled one back through substitute Abbi Smith.

It didn't take long for the Canaries to get back on track, Lauren Hailes evaded her defenders and initially shot at goal, allowing Olivia Cook to jump on the block and tap home.

The goals then just kept coming, as Billericay found the back of the net again through another substitute Jess Francis-Weir in the final minutes.
