Allan Russell, Norwich City interim coach alongside Steve Weaver, has described the result against Reading as "unfortunate" with the visitors claiming a point through a late penalty.
In their first game in charge, the duo almost saw the Canaries claim the three points until Andy Carroll's 83rd-minute penalty.
However, Russell was pleased with the output of the Norwich squad in their final home game of the calendar year.
"I thought it was really positive, first and foremost. There was a reaction from the players which is what we wanted," Russell said.
"I think they gave the energy, the creativity, that we were looking for. Against Reading, it's always going to be a battle, a real battle.
"What I said to them in there was the pleasing thing for me is that they didn't shirk the battle, you won the battle. But, we were really unfortunate because I've just watched the penalty incident, it's not a penalty."
"I thought the fans were excellent as well," Russell added. "From the very first kick of the ball until the last one, I thought they were brilliant."
In the three days since Russell and Weaver have been placed in interim charge of the first team, he says they have made subtle changes but the schedule is business as normal.
Focus will now turn to Watford on Monday, again at Carrow Road.
"There were a few things we've tried to implement in and out of possession," Russell explained. "The way we press, the way we shift up as a team and slide across, which I've seen a lot of evidence of tonight.
"On the ball then was to give the centre-backs and the full-backs more options so we played with high full-backs in certain areas of the pitch and I thought we looked really dangerous at times. We could have taken more of our chances, we created three clear-cut chances in the first half, which we should have converted.
"In the second half, a little bit more quality and better decision-making and we win the game quite comfortably but I've said to them in there we're just extremely proud of the way they battled and the way they fought."
