Gabriel Sara has been voted as the Anglian Home Improvements Player of the Season for 2022/23, and will receive the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy before Monday’s fixture against Blackpool.
Kenny McLean had the second highest votes for the award and Max Aarons claimed third.
Sara joined Norwich City from São Paulo in Brazil during last year's summer transfer window.
So far this season, he has made 42 appearances, providing seven goals and four assists from the heart of the Canaries' midfield.
Throughout the campaign, he was also named as the club's Player of the Month in February, while his strike against Millwall won the fan-voted March Goal of the Month.
Speaking about the award, Sara said: “I’m really happy with this. I wasn’t expecting it, I had a tough start in Norwich but now I’m feeling good and I’m really, really happy with being the player of the season.
“I want to say thank you to everyone that voted for me, I’m very happy with it. It’s really special (to be chosen by the fans), they always support us and they are very special to me. This now makes them even more special to me.”
The Brazilian midfielder is the latest name that will feature on the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy, named after a former club captain who sadly passed away aged just 31 in 1966.
The award was then introduced the following year with Terry Allcock the inaugural winner.
