Saxon Earley says it feel great to have signed his first professional contract at Norwich City.

The midfielder, who has been at the club since under-9s level, says his aims over the next 12 months will be to continue his development as he looks to break towards the first team.

"It feels great (to have signed a pro contract), having been here so long and having worked so hard for it," he said. "I just want to crack on. I had a few injuries last season that held me back a bit, but I am looking forward to trying to stay fit and improve as much as I can over this year.”

Saxon, who describes himself as a box-to-box midfielder, says the pathway into the first team here at Norwich is one of the great things about being a player in the academy as, if you perform well, you will get an opportunity.

“The coaches make that very clear,” he said. “They say if you have consistent performances and work hard then age will not be an issue. They really try to push you on that road to the first team. Seeing players come through where you are now is great because you know if you push yourself hard and get performances like they did, there is always a path through and that is what can spur you on.”
