Head coach Dean Smith admitted that the 0-0 Sky Bet Championship draw with QPR felt like 'two points left behind'.
A string of impressive saves from QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng, along with both Teemu Pukki and Grant Hanley hitting the post were the big moments for Norwich in front of goal.
However, Smith felt that it was a step in the right direction from Saturday's performance against Stoke which he described as 'stodgy'.
"I thought it was a better performance than Saturday if I'm honest," Smith said.
"The only thing missing was a goal, we've had some big chances. Teemu's had one early, Gabby has had one where the 'keeper made a good save. Onel's had one in the second half and Grant hit the post at the end. We should have taken one of those big chances. If we do, QPR have to open up a little bit more.
"They make it tough for you, they protect the middle of the pitch with their numbers. We used our full-backs really well in the first 25 minutes to break their first line of pressure, and created some really good chances.
Despite the result, he was still pleased with the squad in terms of how they approached the fixture and pointed at areas to work on ahead of Saturday's trip to Rotherham.
"We lost our way a couple of times in the game, I felt, where we moved the ball a little bit too slowly and didn't break any lines. It allowed them to defend in numbers and we end up forcing some balls.
"It feels like two points have got away a little bit. If those chances are normally presented, we score. I can't question the application tonight, the lads ran their socks off, worked really hard but there were some moments we want to get better at."
