Since signing for the Canaries from French side Rennes in the summer of 2012, Tettey has been a part of three separate promotions to the Premier League, registering over 250 appearances on his way to legendary status.

The popular Norwegian scored on his City debut in a 1-0 League Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers, the first in a number of standout moments in yellow and green.

A stunning volley against Sunderland, the toe-poked winner away at Manchester United and an outstanding left-footed strike against Preston North End all high on the long list of memorable moments over Tettey’s nine-year spell.

Speaking to canaries.co.uk, Webber said: “Alex has been an outstanding member of the football club for the last nine years and this is a sad day for all of us.

“Since both myself and Daniel arrived at the club, Alex has been outstanding. There have been some difficult days, when he was out of the team at the beginning, with some discussions about him potentially leaving. We asked him to stay and give us more time. He did exactly that and was always professional and there to help the staff and players.

“He was one of our standout performers in the Premier League last season. This came after we were initially told that Alex could only train or play twice a week due to his knees.

“To have achieved what Alex has over his time at the club is phenomenal and he will always remain part of Norwich City.

“We will always have a role for Alex at this football club and, should he wish, we will help and support him with the next stage of his career when he feels the time is right.

“Three promotions, two as a champion, says it all really. On a personal level all I can say is thank you to Alex. All in all, he’s a top character and player and he will be missed around the club.”

Vrancic, who become the first overseas signing of Daniel Farke’s tenure when moving from German side SV Darmstadt in the summer of 2017, will depart as a fan favourite with a catalogue of memorable moments.

In the club’s Championship-winning campaign of 2018-19, Vrancic netted game-winning goals against Reading, Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers. In the season run-in he was also on target with a trademark free-kick against Sheffield Wednesday to secure a dramatic draw, before netting the title-winning goal away at Aston Villa on the final day of the season.

In the Premier League, he scored the opener at home to Tottenham Hotspur, before once again finding the net to help win City crucial points against Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers in the current Championship season.

Webber added: “Mario will always be remembered for his moments of magic. I don’t think anyone will forget his goals against Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers and the title-clincher at Aston Villa.

“Mario is probably the best striker of the ball off both feet that I’ve had the privilege of working with. I am sure he will continue to have a successful career, wherever his next move takes him.

“What people don’t see with Mario is the work that he puts in every single day. Even on his days off, Mario is always in and around the training ground, striving to be the very best he can.

“We’ve seen him on his own in all kinds of weather conditions, practicing when he could be sat at home. That’s why his many moments of magic and crucial goals and assists are no fluke.

“We knew we were signing a top professional four years ago and he has certainly surpassed what we all expected of him.”
