Ashley Barnes is set to be out for a few weeks after sustaining a medial ligament injury during Wednesday night's fixture against Leicester City.
Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend's meeting with Plymouth, head coach David Wagner provided updates on a number of first-team players starting with Barnes.
"He has a medial ligament knee injury, does not need surgery but we'll miss him for a few weeks. It'll (his return) be after the November international break," he says.
He also provided some updates on Borja Sainz, who played 45 minutes for the Under-21s against Wolves on Tuesday night, Marcelino Núñez and Josh Sargent.
"He (Sargent) got the stitches out. Everything is perfect so far, first step is done.
"The boot comes off (Núñez) beginning of next week, before the October international break is quite tight. After the international break, we will have to see.
"It was another step in Borja's 'pre-season'. He'll play 45 minutes tonight against Everton. I have him in my head for minutes against Fulham. He is desperate to play, it's different playing with the Under-21s. Some of the runs he made right, he didn't get the ball."
Speaking about the injuries, Wagner highlighted the various ways he will be able to cover the central attacking role with Sargent and Barnes for the foreseeable future.
"Do I like it? Obviously not. To lose our two strikers who started the beginning of the season for the next couple of months or maybe more. Adam (Idah) has made big steps in the last weeks, he can hopefully keep progressing and scoring goals.
"You see the step in his confidence and performances in the last games. He made an impact on Wednesday when he came on, he's done it for Ireland against the Netherlands. He's made big steps in the last six or seven weeks.
"He took the physical challenges on board on Wednesday. He'll be important for us, I'm not going to put too much pressure on him. He works hard on the pitch with Christoph, and we're expecting further steps from him.
"Ui-Jo's (Hwang) touches, his movement are interesting. We will have to work with him on how we like to play a little bit more.
"Do I love the situation? No. Am I concerned? No. We have Adam, Ui-Jo, Liam can play there, Nacho can, Gabby can move forward because Forshaw is ready to go now."
After losing 2-0 to Leicester, Wagner is hoping for an immediate response from his team at Home Park tomorrow afternoon (KO 3pm).
However, he's wary of the threat that the Pilgrims possess, and the 'tricky' atmosphere that they can create at their home ground.
"Since yesterday, we've looked forward to Plymouth, a difficult game, especially at home. They play some good football a lot of freedom, a lot of fluidity. It's a real test for us after Wednesday," he added.
"Anyone who judges them on the Bristol result would be their first mistake. They made changes away from home, that doesn't count for us. We've learned our lesson from Rotherham away. We've showed that we're better than that.
"It helps if you are clinical, if you don't give them a breather. From the first second, show our strength, play to that. We always have to focus on us first. We have everything to be successful."
