Head coach Philippe Clement gave an update on a number of injuries amongst the squad ahead of this weekend's trip to Bristol City, confirming that Ben Chrisene would be unavailable.
Following the East Anglian derby defeat, Clement said: "We lose one player, Ben Chrisene, which is a pity.
"He has already been struggling for months with his shoulder, it popped out a few times and now he has too much pain to continue playing, so he will not be in the squad tomorrow.
"He will go to a consultant and I am not a doctor but expect it will be surgery.
"This will help him for next season, so that he doesn't have that problem anymore.
"He has been giving everything for the team, for the club, for the badge and to play in those kind of circumstances, he could not have done more."
When asked about how the squad had reacted following last weekend's result against Ipswich Town, he said: "There's not one team in the world or individual athlete that always has success and winning, so you need to handle these moments also and come out stronger.
"I've seen the right behaviours; the team have been very disappointed after the game and I've seen a team during the game who gave it everything.
"They've been working really hard this week, they had two tough training games physically, today more tactical and they all performed well.
"They've left it behind them, they've taken lessons from it and it's about moving on.
"We had a good meeting with the head of the referee department and in general everybody agrees about what happened in the game and that is done, so I don't want to put any more attention to that.
"I've been clear about how I saw things and I will always be honest about that."
Reflecting on tactics and his game plan, Clement said there was still work to do in certain areas.
"Attacking set pieces, not good enough for the moment; the club lost players with really good delivery and we need to make players better at that.
"We are working hard on that, we scored in the first months together more than in this last month, so we are looking at all those things.
"This is one of the hardest leagues to score set-pieces in as its almost a rugby game."
Clement was keen to share some positive news with the media, announcing that certain players may be close to a return.
"Lucien (Mahovo) plans to do some parts of the training next week, he's close on coming back.
"It's now about getting him in a rhythm for all the explosive work.
"Jovon (Makama) and Papa (Amadou Diallo) are back on the grass, only for a short time but they are both working outside and doing running exercises.
"Jeffrey was back in training last week; he cannot play 90 minutes but he can be in contention.
"He will be in the squad of 20 but we will have to decide whether we put him on the bench.
"Gabe (Forsyth) has unfortunately had a set-back again, we are looking with the best specialists in the UK to find the right way with him to get him back fit."
After receiving a yellow card on the touchline at last weekend's game, Clement will be forced to watch on from the stands at Ashton Gate tomorrow afternoon.
"I want to stay as close to the team as possible but I think during the game I will be with the analysts.
"Stephan Van Der Heyden, Nick Stanley and Ryan Garry all have the same importance, so they will all take responsibility during the game.
"Nick will focus on set-pieces, Stefan and Ryan will do the coaching on the sidelines.
"This is my first ever touchline ban, so it's frustrating.
"It's not what I wanted, it's not deserved but it is what it is, I will adapt."
Saturday's opposition coach Roy Hodgson has just approached his fifth decade in coaching and Clement was full of admiration for him.
"It's exceptional, I have huge respect for his career, what he has done and what he is doing now.
"I think it worries my wife when she sees him on the television because she hopes I will do different things in the last part of my life!"
