Philippe Clement has been impressed with loan signing Harry Amass' early application in training since joining from Manchester United.
The full-back was confirmed on Saturday morning ahead of Norwich's Monday night fixture against Coventry City, providing competition for Ben Chrisene following news of Lucien Mahovo's injury.
And the 18-year-old has made an early impression at the Avant Training Centre.
"It was not in our plans a few weeks ago to bring in a left full-back. In Ben and Lucien, we have two really promising talents for the future. Because of the injury to Lucien being long-term, we needed somebody in that position," Clement said.
"The recruitment team were very fast to put forward Harry's name. I watched some footage and I was impressed. It's also a good step for him to come here, we're a young, exciting team trying to play football from the back.
"We're always honest in our talks with players. We don't sell them golden stories, it also has a lot to do with the evolution of the team in the past couple of weeks.
"If somebody steps in, he needs to know the principles of how we want to play. It's positive that he can step into the trainings directly, he's played a lot of game minutes where he has showed his physicality. He will need to adapt to everybody, the way other players play, but I'm very positive about him."
Anis Ben Slimane was another player who the Belgian was questioned on during his press conference.
In the past three fixtures, Slimane has scored twice and had three assists after missing a long spell through injury.
"When I came in, Anis came out from injury and wasn't fit yet. He's worked hard, he was patient and positive. He got into competition with the other players and he's doing really well now. Let's continue like that. That's how it works, show yourself and work hard.
"I hope they give me headaches all season, that would be the best for the club."
Monday's opposition will be league leaders Coventry City where Clement spent a season during his playing days.
Despite admitting he was unlucky with injuries during his year there, he recalls his time with the Sky Blues positively.
"I was unlucky with injuries there, I had two severe injuries. I had a good time there, it was a good dressing room, a good honest manager. I liked my time with Gordon Strachan. A few weeks ago, I met one of my former team-mates here, Darren Huckerby. In that time, I found a love for British football, the passion, everywhere that you go. I got a real taste for it," Clement explained.
"He's still such an energetic person. When you see him, you need to smile. He was a brilliant lad to have in the dressing room. He was a striker in that moment, giving a lot to the team. If I'm honest, he hasn't changed that much if you look at pictures from that time. Clearly he hasn't done a management role since then."
Frank Lampard's side have been the Championship's front runners since early in the season and Clement says there is no bigger test his side can face right now.
"Coventry are first in the league, won the most games, by far the best goal difference. There can't be a bigger test right now. I have a good feeling about where we are, the team is growing, we had a good training week," he added.
"We're up against a good squad, they missed out on promotion last season by small details. Look at where Sunderland are now. They've kept their team together and invested in the squad. It'll be exciting to see how far we can go tomorrow evening.
"It'll be good for us to see how much energy our fans can give us, how much Carrow Road can boil. We've seen it in the last week with the away games."
