Amankwan Forson has not yet been ruled out of contention for Norwich City's Sky Bet Championship meeting with Coventry City on Saturday (KO 12.30pm).
The midfielder suffered a shoulder injury during the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in midweek, replaced by Kenny McLean after just 15 minutes.
"Better news than expected, he was on the pitch today. Way better than expected. We've agreed that we'll wait until tomorrow but seems like he'll be able," Johannes Hoff Thorup said during his pre-match press conference.
"Straight after the game, he was in an OK mood and felt OK so we'll see. It was put back in on the pitch but of course we had to do a scan and see what everything looks like. It was positive news and he's not in pain."
The head coach also provided updates on Jacob Sørensen and Christian Fassnacht who have both been absent.
"It doesn't seem like a surgery (for Fassnacht) but it is going to be the five weeks that we've talked about.
"More or the less the same for Lungi, the ankle not the foot, but five weeks from now seems realistic."
Hoff Thorup also provided some feedback on the 4-0 defeat to Premier League side Palace.
While he wasn't pleased with the scoreline, he felt that the manner of the performance showed some of the aspects that he and his staff are aiming to implement.
"I'm not pleased with the goals we conceded. With all due respect to Palace, it is a good side with fantastic players but the goals we conceded didn't follow our principles. The set-play goal was individual quality but the third and fourth I'm not satisfied with," he said.
"That's why I was annoyed with the performance. We should have done better. I'm pleased with the performance on the ball, we kept on going and I was satisfied with that.
"A thing to look at is the type of chances we create, they're starting to look like each other. The pattern is starting, the style of play, that's a positive sign. Now, it's about converting these chances."
With the transfer window scheduled to close on Friday night, the Dane also addressed some of the transfer news being discussed.
"Everything has been planned. From day one, we've been clearly aligned. We sat with Ben (Knapper), Neil (Adams) and the recruitment staff to make sure we always had players lined up. You can't plan what clubs will try and buy your players but we've been ready.
"We need one more midfielder, if we bring in another player it'll be related to the Abu (Kamara) situation."
