Liam Manning has confirmed that Amankwah Forson will miss the first round of the Carabao Cup due to a hamstring injury.
City travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford but the Ghanaian misses out after picking up a hamstring injury during the opening day defeat to Millwall.
"He did pick up a hamstring injury. We're not sure of the extent but he has a scan this afternoon. He won't be available for tomorrow," Manning confirmed.
"There's a couple of bumps and bruises, that's to be expected but nothing major after Saturday from that perspective."
Reviewing that defeat, Manning felt that City needed to do more with their spells of dominance.
City controlled most of the possession but fell to a 2-1 defeat after Macauley Langstaff's 83rd-minute winner.
"The result and the manner of the result, it feels like we lost it rather than they won it. I watched it back at the weekend, the first 25/30 minutes is where I want to get us to. There's still a lot of work to do in turning that domination into more chances.
"We made it their game a bit too much second half. We're working real hard to get the players to make smart decision, that puts a bit of responsibility on them, we're not telling them have to play short or they have to play long, it's about the right decision.
"I spoke to a few individually today and then we had the team meeting. The only way you'll improve and get better is by putting the team first, we have to look at ourselves and say it wasn't good enough. We had an open and honest meeting with the lads this morning."
On the day, seven new signings made their City debuts, five from the start.
Mathias Kvistgaarden was a second half substitute and Manning was pleased with what he saw from the young Dane.
"I was pleased with the impact he had. He brought real energy and purpose with his running. We have to get him in areas to highlight his strengths. We need to look at connections, players understanding Mathias. What is he? How does he play?
"He's pushing for it (a start), and playing at Carrow Road is a big step for him too."
On the challenge of Watford, Manning indicated he would make changes for the game but will also try to keep some continuity in the squad.
Building player relationships and increasing the in-game minutes of sections of the squad are key to the decision.
"It'll be a blend. We want to give an opportunity to people that haven't had minutes. We need to keep building that continuity and relationships among players too though so it'll be a blend," Manning explained.
"We'll be doing everything to win tomorrow night. Across the course of the season, we'll have to make changes in-game or game-to-game, making a few changes won't be belittling the game.
"When you look at depth, competition, how we use it, the challenge for the lads is to give me a headache. How you do that is control what you can, how you apply yourself every single day."
