Team News: Krul close to a return, Omobamidele still out

Tim Krul has put himself in contention for a return to the Norwich City squad for Friday night's match against Southampton.

Tim Krul has put himself in contention for a return to the Norwich City squad for Friday night's match against Southampton.

The City goalkeeper has been out with a shoulder injury since the team's victory over Everton on January 15.

However, after working with the team on the training field for the past week, head coach Dean Smith says the Dutch international is close to a return.

"We've got Tim Krul who is back in training and putting himself in contention," Dean said at his Thursday press conference.

"He's asking the question of us, it's now a decision for myself to make.

Elsewhere, Dean confirmed his only two absentees are Adam Idah, who's been ruled out for the season with a knee injury, and Andrew Omobamidele, who's still awaiting news on his back problem.

"It's still not great news with Andrew Omobamidele. He's still struggling so we expect him to be out for the near future. We're still waiting for an update on it.

Dean also confirmed that Jacob Sorensen and Lukas Rupp are back in training.
