Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement confirmed he was pleased with the club's transfer business in the January window, highlighting the qualities of Mohamed Touré and Sam Field.
On the position of a striker, Clement said: "The bar was really high before the transfer window, as a club everybody aligned around that and we were really close in signing a striker who wanted to come but situations changed because his team were winning games they were not expected to win.
"Then, at the end of the window, we had to go for another profile, a younger profile with qualities for now and for sure for the future, when at first the idea was to bring someone in with more experience.
"We can bring (Touré) in within a short time but Jov (Jovon Makama) is also for the future; he is not a settled striker who knows all the tricks.
"They're all young guys with a lot of potential to grow and to become better.
"I don't see him as a playmaker but indeed with his power and speed he can also work on the sides, but is not really a winger."
The Canaries signed experienced Championship midfielder Sam Field on loan from QPR on deadline day, the final signing of the January window.
"Clearly, if you've signed 17 seconds before the deadline, it was a last-minute thing, but Sam is a well-known Championship player with a lot of experience, so he ticks a lot of boxes of what we wanted.
"It was important to bring someone in who could play directly, otherwise all the pressure came on Jacob (Wright) and Kenny (McLean) to play 90 minutes every game, so we needed someone who could step in directly and suited the way we wanted to play."
The Norwich City head coach then gave some insight into injuries amongst the squad, including that of Manchester United loanee Harry Amass.
"There was a possibility if everyone stayed fit that some others could go but we had to stop that because of the injury of Pelle (Mattsson) and Harry (Amass) during the window.
"We are in constant communication (with Manchester United) about Harry, I was really happy with what he showed when he was here.
"I saw what he could do in training, I learnt to know him as a person; he is only 18 but is much more mature.
"He also felt really good here in the dressing room with everybody.
"We will see now with rehab, there is a possibility at the end of the season he can be fit, so let's make that the goal.
"(Amankwah Forson) is back in training with the team now. It's too soon for this weekend, I want to make him really robust after his previous injuries.
"(Gabe Forsyth) is for the moment sometimes in group sessions but mostly individual sessions.
"We need to really slowly build him and combine that with the Under-21s, which is also his normal age group, so it will be a programme for him to grow in the next weeks and months."
After confirming that Jeffrey Schlupp and Shane Duffy were getting closer, Clement added that Matěj Jurásek was on the sidelines short-term.
"There is a problem with the bone in his foot, it's not a fracture, which is positive but he will need a little bit of time to let it settle down.
"We will have a consultancy with the specialist about how long he will be out.
"The bone is hurt and it's a bad place because you don't have blood coming through there, it's a dangerous one to continue with because there is risk of fracture."
City host Blackburn Rovers this weekend but Clement reassured the media his squad know the challenge that awaits.
"There is a really good feeling in the building, now the biggest mistake a group of players can make is to not reproduce the level they showed against Coventry and Middlesbrough against Blackburn.
"Look at their December where they had really good results against good teams.
"We need to be hungry because good teams are the teams that do it every time.
"We're focused on ourselves mostly and we've been working together for two months now, it's about us and what we do, we will see."
