Johannes Hoff Thorup gave an update on the squad's fitness ahead of the Sky Bet Championship fixture against Oxford United on Friday night.
The head coach had some disappointing news to start the press conference, confirming that Lewis Dobbin and Ben Chrisene will miss the remainder of the season after injuries sustained during the draw with Blackburn Rovers.
On Lewis Dobbin: "(The scan was) not good. Unfortunately, I think those were his last minutes for us this season.
"He has contributed offensively for us in a different way to other players. There are many good things about him and we will take care of him.
"What he gave to the team was really positive. We will sit down with his agents and people and see if there are any opportunities for him to stay with us next season."
On Ben Chrisene: "Also the last minutes for him this season unfortunately.
"He was stepping into that role in a very good way. So, it's unfortunate for him and also for us."
Adding to the Canaries' troubles at left-back is the absence of Lucien Mahovo, but Hoff Thorup suggested that the young full-back will return after the international break.
Meanwhile, the head coach was relieved that Callum Doyle will make a timely return from a two-game suspension.
"He is needed! It is good timing for him that he's back now and good in one sense that he has had some rest."
When asked about winger Matěj Jurásek featuring more in upcoming games, the Dane explained why it will take time:
"We need him involved in more training sessions; he needs more time to be prepared for the intensity of the league.
"It is different to many other leagues, some players adapt quickly and some take a little bit longer."
There was encouraging news that Canaries' captain Kenny McLean has returned to training after experiencing chest tightness in recent weeks:
"He was well, just not when he was training. Of course, you have to find out exactly what is was and we have found the right medication. He will have to build up his match fitness again now."
City face Oxford United at Carrow Road on Friday night (KO 8pm) hoping to avenge an opening day defeat in the reverse fixture.
