Johannes Hoff Thorup confirmed that Marcelino Núñez will miss the next two Sky Bet Championship fixtures due to injury.
The Chilean was replaced by Oscar Schwartau during Saturday's draw away to Stoke City and the head coach confirmed he will be unavailable for selection for Deepdale, as well as confirming the fitness levels of other members of the squad.
"We will scan him today and have a better view on him," Hoff Thorup said.
"We are talking tomorrow and the game on Sunday \[not available\]. It’s better than expected, so I’m a little bit more optimistic. We did a scan as quick as we could after Saturday and it was not as severe as expected. We have be conservative with him.
"It will be too optimistic for tomorrow and Sunday for (Angus) Gunn, hopefully we can get him back on the grass after this weekend's game.
"He's \[Jacob Sørensen\] in the fight for a midfield position. He's not 100 per cent yet, but he is in a position to come in for tomorrow. Not to start, but he's getting there."
The Dane also reflected on the draw at the bet365 Stadium, feeling the squad could've made a better impact in the game's second half.
"I showed the players some clips and they had the same feeling that we were a bit sloppy. Our movements weren't sharp enough. If we could've kept the momentum from the first half to second half, it could've been a very good game for us.
"It's never easy to go into the game with only one day of preparation. Now we play four days after, it's finding that fine balance of key moments. We found some good moments. A point away to Stoke is OK, the group have high expectations."
Hoff Thorup also looked ahead to Tuesday night's trip to Deepdale, hoping that Norwich's quality would be the deciding factor.
"We're excited, it's going to be intense and we have to do everything we can. It's going to be tough, but we need to make sure it's decided by us. When we're good, we can be really really good."
