Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement confirmed that a number of players had returned to training ahead of Friday's Sky Bet Championship match against Portsmouth at Carrow Road.
"Mo Touré was back in training, Oscar Schwartau, Jack Stacey, Ben Chrisene and Jeffrey Schlupp.
"Every case is different, different injuries and different periods out; according to that they can be in the selection or not.
"We missed a big part of our group, so we could work with some players more individually and there are several players coming out of injury but I prefer to work with the whole group.
"Football is not a game played one-on-one; a lot of the guys who played a lot of games were not here.
"I don't think there is one manager in the Championship who understands why we are playing Friday; it's a little bit madness that we play tomorrow after the international period but that is the situation.
"You probably know already that Ruairi McConville came back with an injury after the international games, so we will miss him for the next match.
"There were some who came back from a long flight and did not train today.
"Tomorrow we need to make a decision because several players only came back today and we need to assess tomorrow how they feel.
"Two guys played a game around 1am on Wednesday and then travelled a long time, with five or six hours time difference, which has an impact on the body."
When asked if the international success of players like José Córdoba; who recently netted his first goal for his country; boosts the dressing room morale, Clement noted a pre-existing confidence within the squad.
"All the guys who were here training, there's not a challenge of a game nearby, but all have trained hard, focused and with good quality, so the good vibe was here already and they didn't need the international games for that."
Lee Carsley’s England Under-21s spent the final leg of the international break in Norfolk, hosting Moldova at Carrow Road and utilising the Avant Training Centre as their base.
"It's also a choice we made as a club to not be afraid to play young players, we are by far the youngest team in the Championship.
"I spoke shortly with Lee Carsley but Paul Williams is an ex-teammate of mine, so it was nice to see him."
The club announced a number of staff updates earlier today across the club's sporting operation.
"I was involved with the talks with different candidates, other people in the club made first selections around the candidates, then I was involved.
"Paul Ford came out as the best candidate; he can be a really good extra asset with the club and to help guide us on the medical side.
"This is a role I have had with my previous clubs.
"I listen to my staff, we always have discussions, I want to work really holistically to get to know the players in every way and I need to make all the right decisions with the right information, so it is important to have people with experience to give you the right information."
Turning his attention to this weekend’s visitors, Clement warned that Portsmouth would not arrive without a fight tomorrow afternoon.
"They are still in the relegation battle and we have moved away from that, so I think that's one of the reasons the vibe in the building is really good and nobody expected that.
"I told all of the players, when we need to switch, we have a serious game tomorrow and we need to be focused."
