David Wagner provided a positive update on both Jonathan Rowe and Marcelino Núñez's injuries during his press conference ahead of the trip to Middlesbrough.
Rowe is yet to make an appearance this season after suffering set-backs in his recovery while the Chilean picked up an ankle problem in March.
However, both are expected back in the next week.
"Nothing has really changed. Jonny Rowe is back in training without any issues, and it looks like Nacho will be back in the next week. He's recovered well," Wagner explained.
"Jon hasn't had an appearance this season so it's a big boost for him. He's a nice lad, very positive guy so we'll see what happens in the near future.
"I would love to have all players healthy, especially the senior pros. It makes no sense to moan about it, unfortunately it happened now in a short period of time. But, it's time for others to step up."
Among those to step up, Wagner reserved praise for Andrew Omobamidele, who took over as captain on Easter Monday, and midfielder Liam Gibbs.
"\[Andrew\] behaved like a leader, like a top professional in a window that was not easy for him, not playing, not starting. He reacted very well and that's why I decided to give him the armband. He reacted very well and put in a great performance on Monday.
"Liam was one of the most exciting players for me when I did my research on Norwich. Unfortunately he played in the position where Kenny and Gabby were playing well so he hasn't had a lot of minutes but he trains consistently at a high level.
"He played a number 10 role at Blackburn very well and scored. We can be very happy we have a talent like him, a good football brain. Now, the gap has opened and he's taken the shirt."
On Friday night's fixture, Wagner commended the turnaround that Middlesbrough have had since the introduction of Michael Carrick in October - climbing from 21st up to where they now lie, in fourth.
However, he also highlighted the need for one of the teams hovering around the remaining play-off spots to grasp the opportunity.
"Another big one. This is the stage of the season where they are all big. It's great to be in the mix, we know what we have to know about Middlesbrough. We know their strengths, they are a top team. Hopefully, we can get a result.
"What I've seen from the team is desire and passion to make something happen. We don't know if it will but all we can do is play with freedom and bravery, we need to be more clinical as well.
"It's the same story for all teams in the mix at the minute. We make sure that we focus on ourselves, don't look left or right, just make sure you perform. Do everything with the right desire and hunger.
"The stats speak for themselves - look at how many goals they have scored. Especially at home, they have a very good record. But, we are ambitious, we'll give them a proper fight, we'll go for it.
"Enjoy every second, hopefully it won't be the last time. Embrace the occasion, it'll be a great afternoon and hopefully they'll get the result."
