Jack Stacey will follow concussion return protocols before he is made available for Norwich City again, following his head injury in the defeat against Middlesbrough.
The right-back was replaced early in the second half of the Sky Bet Championship fixture after competing for the ball in the Boro area.
Oxygen was administered on the pitch while he has since been for a scan to assess the injury.
"He had a clear scan, it was a nasty one. He took a bad fall, scanned him, checked him, he's off at the minute dealing with a headache and some symptoms. He won't be available this week," head coach Liam Manning said in his press conference.
"There's a certain timeframe and protocols he has to tick off along the way. We'll follow the appropriate guidelines, the doc has been around to check on him today. I saw him after the game, he wasn't in a great place but he was conscious and talking, he had his family around him."
Manning also reflected on the weekend and the performance against Middlesbrough.
Turnovers were an area where he said there is clear area for improvement while also pointing out some positive aspects.
"Watching back over the weekend, it was similar to what I felt post-game. They shaded having the ball at the start of the game, but we adapted and forced them to kick long. Papa (Diallo) had a good chance, (Josh) Sargent had a couple of headers but then it's those types of turnovers that are killing us," Manning explained.
"It's not the first time I've had groups go through this but we need to cut it out quickly. We have to accept that there are too many errors, it's not good enough. They only had a few chances and it's off the back of us.
"Eyes, gut feeling, what you see, that's why I watch it back. I take the emotional feeling out of it and get the analysis point of view. Of course, we'll look at the data to see if it flags anything new or reinforces what you're thinking about any way.
"We had so much of the ball in such good areas, we need to turn that into shots on goal. Defensively, it's the types of turnovers that we need to correct."
Club captain Kenny McLean was a welcome sight on Saturday after missing the start of the season through injury.
He came on in the second half before providing the pass to set up Sargent's goal in the 85th minute.
"It's great to have him back so early, he showed some moments of real quality. He took some risks with the ball, putting one in behind for Sarge.
"It's credit to how hard he has pushed to get back but also who he is as a person and a pro. We have to be a little bit careful about not giving him too much too soon, we'll build him up and make sure he gets the right amount of work this week."
Looking ahead to Southampton on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, Manning outlined how City will need to be good in every area of the pitch.
"We have to be hard to beat. We pressed higher at the weekend, even with 10 men we engaged high. We need to be tough to beat with the ball, stop turning it over in those areas. I'm sure Southampton will make changes but we'll make sure we're ready for it.
"I haven't come across him in terms of coaching against him. He's had an interesting journey and one that he's had some success in so far.
"I'm desperate for the team to perform well and give the fans something to shout about. That was one thing for us at the weekend, down to 10 men, they saw the lads have a go and they got behind us."
